What it does

Mud stays down. Gravel stays up.

Geotextile fabric goes down first, right on the ground, before your panels. It keeps the mud underneath from working up into your gravel, and it keeps your gravel from sinking down into the mud.

Ours is non-woven and needle punched, so it lets water through better than a woven fabric and is easier to install.

Yes, we recommend it under every install, and it matters most on clay or soft, wet ground. Without it, mud works its way up into your gravel over time.

Can I buy fabric locally?

Yes. Any heavy-duty non-woven geotextile fabric in the 6 to 8 oz range will work. For projects of 50 panels or more, our Fabric Guide lists bulk suppliers.
